Indoor Space - Wood Ceilings
You can use wood ceiling planks to cover up an old and worn out ceiling, such as popcorn ceiling, or a drywall, saving you time and money in the process.
For the installation you will need ceiling joists, tongue and groove wood ceiling planks, and crown moulding. The ceiling planks are easy to install after they have been stained or painted. If you are not sure what type of finish you want, then take your time to think about it before you do the installation. Ceiling planks are lightweight, making it easier for overhead installation.
Measure your current ceiling. Multiply the length and the width of the room to obtain the square footage. Add 10% to the result of the multiplication, this 10% will be necessary in case there are any errors during the installation.
We suggest that you leave the wood ceiling planks inside the room for a week prior the installation. This allow the wood to acclimate.
Many times when you are installing wood ceiling planks you will realize that the room is not perfectly square. You must be prepared to do some trimmings on the final row. The room's imperfections can also be corrected using a crown moulding that will cover the transition between the ceiling planks and the wall.
Remember to wear your safety goggles when you are carrying out with the installation.
